Child Custody & Visitation

Making the decision to divorce when you have children is a complicated and highly emotional decision. Often the most difficult decision during a divorce involves who will take care of the children. The results of these decisions can affect your life and the life of your child for years to come.

Child Support
Under Arizona family law, all child support is calculated using uniform state guidelines. While a court ultimately decides the child support amount for each case, your family lawyer is able to calculate a reasonable estimate of the amount of child support you owe to your child’s other parent or the amount the other parent owes you by using the Arizona Guideline Child Support Calculator.
Spousal Support
Spousal Support
If you and your partner have decided to separate, you may be entitled to receive financial support each month. If you are married, then the court may order either you or your spouse to pay spousal support, also known as alimony. Resolving spousal support issues can be a complex legal matter; therefore, it is imperative that you retain the services of an experienced Arizona family law attorney as soon as possible.

Restraining Orders
Relationship issues that are not resolved often result in very emotional, trying times, particularly in a divorce – especially when one is considering child custody, and all of the financial ramifications of such a decision.
Property Division
Property Division
When you are married, you share everything: the bar stools in the kitchen, the family photos in the frames, and the fine china. Yet when you decide to divorce, it is suddenly necessary to decide how to split all of those shared assets.
Paternity
Paternity
Being a mother doesn’t necessarily mean that you have a stable family life, nor an income to support your child. Fortunately laws in the State of Arizona provide some support to get you moving in the right direction. Establishing paternity (the legal acknowledgment of your child’s father) is perhaps the most critical step towards collecting child support and moving you forward in raising your child.
Adoption
Adoptions
Whether you are seeking to build your family through adoption, are placing a child up for adoption, or are dealing with legal issues related to an ongoing or already completed adoption, Louis is here to help you.
Guardianships
Guardianships
A Guardianship is when a judge gives a responsible person who is not the parent the custody of a child under the age of 18. A guardianship is sometimes needed when, no matter how much parents love their children, they are not able to parent for several reasons.
same-sex-law
Same Sex
In Arizona, same sex marriage became legal on October 14, 2014. The US Supreme Court made same sex marriage legal throughout the country on June 26th, 2015. As you would expect, with the right to marry legally comes the right to divorce legally. The right to divorce offers legal protections previously unavailable to the gay spouse.
